Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm greetings to the nation on the occasion of Dhanteras, the first day of the Diwali festival, and prayed for the well-being, happiness, and prosperity of all citizens. Dhanteras is traditionally associated with worshipping Lord Dhanvantari, the deity of health, and Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. The festival is celebrated in the evenings with Lakshmi Puja, where devotees light diyas, offer traditional sweets, and sing devotional songs or bhajans in honor of the goddess. Homes are cleaned and decorated to welcome prosperity and good fortune for the coming year.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda also conveyed his best wishes, emphasizing both prosperity and health. He wrote, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all of you on the sacred festival of Dhanteras, which brings prosperity, health, and well-being. May your life be filled with happiness and prosperity, wealth and abundance, and joy, by the blessings of Maa Lakshmi Ji and Lord Dhanvantari Ji. Such is my auspicious prayer.” His message reflected the traditional significance of Dhanteras as a time to seek divine blessings for both material and physical well-being.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined in the greetings, posting, “Heartfelt congratulations and infinite best wishes to all of you on the sacred festival of Dhanteras! May the boundless grace of Mother Lakshmi continuously bring a flow of happiness, prosperity, good fortune, and joy into your home and courtyard; this is the prayer.” His message highlighted the role of faith and devotion in bringing positive energy and prosperity to homes.
