PM Modi Unveils ₹13,430 Crore Development Projects in Kurnool to Boost Andhra Pradesh’s Growth Kurnool

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation for a series of development projects worth around ₹13,430 crore in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, marking a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure and industrial growth. The wide-ranging initiatives cover vital sectors including infrastructure, energy, defence manufacturing, railways, and industry—aimed at propelling Andhra Pradesh towards accelerated economic progress.
Addressing a large public gathering, Prime Minister Modi invoked the blessings of Lord Narasimha Swamy of Ahobilam and Shri Mahanandishwara Swamy of Mahanandi, as well as revered saints and freedom fighters from the region. He described Andhra Pradesh as a land of immense pride, culture, and innovation, emphasizing that the state’s youth possess limitless potential to drive national progress.
He noted that under the combined leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, along with strong support from the Centre, Andhra Pradesh is witnessing unprecedented growth. Referring to the past 16 months, the Prime Minister said the state’s rapid development reflects the growing partnership between Delhi and Amaravati.
Among the major projects launched was a six-lane greenfield highway between Sabbavaram and Sheelanagar worth ₹960 crore, designed to ease traffic congestion in Visakhapatnam. Additionally, six more road projects totaling over ₹1,140 crore were inaugurated to strengthen state connectivity. In the railway sector, projects worth more than ₹1,200 crore were launched, including the Kottavalasa–Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line and new flyovers between Pendurti and Simhachalam North—expected to enhance freight movement and passenger convenience.
Highlighting the importance of energy security, PM Modi launched a ₹3,000 crore transmission project at the Kurnool-III Pooling Station, which will expand renewable energy transmission capacity. He also dedicated the Srikakulam-Angul Natural Gas Pipeline by GAIL (India) Limited and inaugurated Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s new LPG bottling plant in Chittoor, expected to serve over 7.2 lakh consumers.
In a significant push to manufacturing and employment, foundation stones were laid for the Orvakal and Kopparthy Industrial Areas, developed jointly by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. Together, they represent an investment of over ₹4,920 crore, with the potential to attract ₹21,000 crore in further investments and generate nearly one lakh jobs.
Strengthening India’s defence sector, PM Modi inaugurated Bharat Electronics Limited’s Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru in Krishna district, built at a cost of ₹360 crore. The facility will manufacture advanced electro-optical systems for the armed forces, boosting indigenous defence production and skilled employment.
The Prime Minister also announced a major investment by Google to establish India’s first Artificial Intelligence Hub in Andhra Pradesh. The initiative includes an International Subsea Gateway at Visakhapatnam, featuring multiple subsea cables to enhance India’s global connectivity and position Visakhapatnam as a major AI hub.
PM Modi lauded Kurnool’s vision of becoming India’s drone hub, linking it to the nation’s growing leadership in indigenous technologies. He also highlighted citizen-friendly reforms, including making income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free and GST reductions expected to save Andhra residents over ₹8,000 crore.
Reaffirming his vision for a developed India by 2047, the Prime Minister stated that the dream of a developed nation can only be achieved through a developed Andhra Pradesh. He commended the people of Rayalaseema for their contribution to the state’s growth, emphasizing that the projects inaugurated in Kurnool will open new avenues for employment, innovation, and prosperity across the region.
The event was attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer, and several Union Ministers, including Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, and Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma.
