October 16, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Andhra Pradesh today to launch, inaugurate, and lay the foundation stone for several major development projects worth around ₹13,430 crore. His visit includes both spiritual and public programs in the state, starting from Srisailam and later moving to Kurnool.
PM Modi will begin his visit in Srisailam at around 11:15 AM. He will offer prayers at the famous Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Nandyal district. This temple is special as it is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and also one of the 52 Shakti Peethas, making it unique for having both deities in the same temple complex. After the temple visit, he will head to the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra at 12:15 PM. This memorial celebrates the historic visit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Srisailam in 1677 and features models of four important forts—Pratapgad, Rajgad, Raigad, and Shivneri—along with a large meditation statue of the Maratha king.
In the afternoon, at around 2:30 PM, the Prime Minister will attend a public event in Kurnool. Here, he will launch and lay the foundation for several projects covering industries, infrastructure, energy, defence, and transport.
One of the key projects is the Transmission System Strengthening at Kurnool-III Pooling Station, costing over ₹2,880 crore. This 765 KV double-circuit line will connect Kurnool and Chilakaluripeta and increase the region’s power transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA, helping in the transmission of renewable energy.
PM Modi will also launch two major industrial areas—Orvakal and Kopparthy—developed by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. Together, these projects involve an investment of ₹4,920 crore and are expected to attract ₹21,000 crore in further investments while creating nearly one lakh jobs in the Rayalaseema region.
To improve road connectivity, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for a six-lane Greenfield Highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar, costing ₹960 crore. In addition, he will inaugurate six road projects worth ₹1,140 crore that aim to reduce traffic congestion, make travel safer, and improve national highways across the state.
In the railway sector, projects worth over ₹1,200 crore will also be launched. These include the Kottavalasa–Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line, the Pendurti–Simhachalam North Rail Flyover, and the doubling of two other railway sections. These works will help increase train speed, ease passenger movement, and promote trade and tourism in the region.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the 422-km GAIL Srikakulam–Angul Natural Gas Pipeline, built at a cost of ₹1,730 crore, and inaugurate a new Indian Oil LPG bottling plant in Chittoor worth ₹200 crore. The plant will serve more than 7 lakh customers across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
Lastly, to boost defence manufacturing in India, PM Modi will dedicate Bharat Electronics Limited’s Advanced Night Vision Products Factory in Krishna district. The ₹360 crore facility will produce high-tech electro-optical equipment for the armed forces and create skilled jobs, contributing to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
