Bhagwant Mann Predicts Tough Road Ahead for BJP and Akali Dal in Punjab
Chandigarh, May 25, 2025
Punjab politics has started heating up well ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann making a bold prediction about the future of rival parties in the state. His remarks reflect the growing political confidence of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party as parties begin positioning themselves for the next major electoral battle.
Speaking during an interaction, Mann claimed that the BJP may win only “one or two seats” in Punjab, while the Shiromani Akali Dal could fail to secure even a single seat. He reportedly wrote down and signed his prediction, asserting that Congress too would struggle to cross double digits in the upcoming elections. According to Mann, the BJP may find limited success only in the Pathankot region.
Responding to comparisons with BJP’s strong performance in other states, Mann said Punjab’s political environment is different because he remains closely connected with the people. He also accused the BJP of carrying an anti-Punjab mindset and attempting to create divisions during elections. His comments come at a time when political campaigning and public outreach have already intensified across the state.
With the 2027 elections still some time away, political statements and counterattacks are expected to grow sharper in the coming months. Mann’s remarks have added fresh energy to Punjab’s political discourse, setting the stage for what could become a highly competitive and closely watched electoral contest.
