Greater Noida | November 14, 2025

A 35-year-old tailor from Greater Noida’s Surajpur area has been arrested for allegedly killing a 25-year-old man earlier this month. Police said the accused used a pair of scissors to stab the victim during a late-night argument, and the weapon has now been recovered.

The victim, Ankit, lived in Shyaurajpur village and worked as a cleaner at a commercial complex in Tilpata village. The accused has been identified as Om Pal Singh, a tailor who ran a small shop in the same complex. Singh, originally from Pokharpur and currently staying in Santosh Nagar Colony, was arrested from Bhanauta Cut after police tracked him using local intelligence and surveillance.

According to police, the incident happened on November 3. That night, Ankit, who was reportedly drunk, discovered he had lost ₹7,000. He suspected Singh had taken the money. Later, while Singh was returning home, Ankit confronted him on the road, and the argument quickly escalated.

Officers said Singh lost his temper during the fight and attacked Ankit on the neck with scissors, killing him instantly. Instead of informing anyone, Singh left the body near the Pali drain by the roadside and fled. Police teams started searching for him soon after the body was found. Using clues gathered from nearby areas and footage from local surveillance, they managed to locate and arrest him.

Ankit’s brother, Ranjit, filed a complaint at Surajpur police station. Based on his statement, the police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials also confirmed that the recovered scissors match the details given in the complaint and appear to be the weapon used in the attack.

Police say further investigation is ongoing to understand the complete sequence of events, and the accused is currently in custody.
