During his visit, Jaishankar met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, where both leaders reviewed the progress of the India–France Strategic Partnership. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in multilateral and plurilateral forums, especially in areas such as defence, technology, and global governance. The two ministers agreed to continue enhancing collaboration on international platforms and in addressing common global challenges.
In another key engagement, Jaishankar met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira. Both ministers acknowledged the positive momentum in bilateral relations and the progress made in trade negotiations and defence collaboration.
Further strengthening India’s European outreach, Jaishankar met German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to review the India–Germany Strategic Partnership and ongoing discussions between India and the European Union (EU). Their talks covered a wide range of topics, including developments in West Asia, the Indo-Pacific, and Afghanistan. The ministers agreed to continue close coordination on regional and global issues, reflecting shared democratic values and mutual strategic interests.
India’s participation in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting this year comes under the Canadian Presidency, with India invited as a special partner nation alongside Brazil, Australia, and South Korea. The two-day event is focusing on key global priorities such as security cooperation, economic resilience, energy transition, and strengthening partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region—all areas where India plays a vital role.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in its statement, highlighted that Jaishankar’s participation at the G7 forum reflects India’s continued commitment to global cooperation and its determination to amplify the concerns and aspirations of the Global South. “EAM’s participation in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting reflects India’s commitment to working with international partners in addressing global challenges and amplifying the voice of the Global South in international fora,” the MEA said.
