Diabetologist with 24 Years of Experience Recommends 6 Essential Tests Every 6 Months for Long-Term Health

New Delhi | November 8, 2025

Health is truly wealth, and taking care of it means more than just eating right or exercising regularly. Diabetologist Dr. Brijmohan Arora, who has been practicing in Dwarka, New Delhi, for 24 years, recently shared six simple medical tests that everyone should get done every six months to maintain good health and detect diseases early.

In his Instagram post dated September 14, Dr. Arora explained that while habits like eating whole foods, avoiding processed items, sleeping well, and staying active are key to wellness, regular health checkups are just as important. Early testing, he said, can catch problems before they turn serious and help people lead longer, healthier lives.

Dr. Arora listed six specific tests — HbA1c, Kidney Function Test (KFT), Liver Function Test (LFT), Lipid Profile, and Vitamin B1 and D3 levels — that should be done twice a year. Each plays a unique role in monitoring the body’s overall health.

HbA1c Test:

This test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past three months. It’s especially important for detecting diabetes or monitoring how well it’s being controlled.

KFT (Kidney Function Test):

The KFT checks how well your kidneys are filtering waste from your blood. Dr. Arora emphasized that kidney issues often go unnoticed until they become serious, making this test crucial for early detection.

LFT (Liver Function Test):

The LFT evaluates how your liver is functioning. According to Dr. Arora, this test helps detect fatty liver, diabetes-related liver problems, or other conditions that may affect digestion and metabolism.

Lipid Profile:

This test measures various types of cholesterol in your blood, including LDL (bad cholesterol) and HDL (good cholesterol). Keeping cholesterol levels in check is vital for maintaining heart health and preventing heart disease, the doctor explained.

Vitamin B1 Test:

Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine, supports nerve health and energy metabolism. Low levels can cause fatigue and nerve-related problems. Dr. Arora recommends getting this checked regularly, especially if you are dieting or on medication.

Vitamin D3 Test:

Vitamin D3 plays a major role in bone health, immunity, and overall well-being. Many people, even those living in sunny regions, have deficiencies due to indoor lifestyles. Regular testing helps ensure optimal levels.

Dr. Arora stressed that these six tests are not just for people with diabetes but for anyone who wants to stay healthy and detect potential health risks early. “Prevention is always better than cure,” by this, we are urging everyone to take charge of their health with timely checkups.
