Inclusive Scholarships Reflect Government’s Commitment to Equal Opportunity: CM Yogi Adityanath
Highlighting the role of welfare in governance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that public service must be rooted in compassion and inclusivity. He stated that the objective of any government should not be limited to individuals, castes, or communities, but should focus on the collective progress of all sections of society. Referring to the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he underlined how welfare schemes are designed to reach every eligible beneficiary without discrimination.
The Chief Minister noted that scholarship programs have been structured to support students across diverse backgrounds, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, economically weaker sections from the general category, and minority communities. The government’s priority, he said, has been to ensure that students not only have access to educational platforms but also receive financial assistance on time to continue their studies without interruption.
Addressing past challenges, Adityanath pointed out gaps in the implementation of scholarship schemes prior to 2017. He alleged that during the tenure of the Samajwadi Party government, scholarships for SC/ST students were not disbursed in the 2016–17 period. According to him, financial mismanagement and diversion of allocated funds had led to a situation where the state lacked sufficient resources to support students in need.
He further added that after assuming office in 2017, his administration took corrective measures to clear pending dues. Scholarships for both the 2016–17 and 2017–18 academic years were processed together to ensure that affected students did not suffer due to earlier delays. The government, he asserted, remains committed to transparency and timely delivery of welfare benefits, reinforcing its broader goal of equitable development.
