Bomb Threat Note on IndiGo Flight Triggers Emergency Landing in Lucknow

An IndiGo Airlines flight travelling from Delhi to Bagdogra was forced to make an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Sunday morning after a bomb threat was reported onboard. The threat was discovered in the form of a handwritten message on a tissue paper found inside the aircraft’s toilet, creating panic and prompting immediate security action.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma, the message claimed that there was a bomb on the flight. At the time, the aircraft was carrying 230 passengers, including 222 adults and eight infants, along with two pilots and five cabin crew members. Air Traffic Control received information about the threat at around 8:46 am, following which the aircraft was diverted to Lucknow and landed safely at 9:17 am.
After landing, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay at Lucknow airport as a precautionary measure. All passengers were safely evacuated, and security forces including the CISF and bomb disposal squads surrounded the plane. A thorough search of the aircraft was carried out as per standard security protocols. Officials confirmed that the situation was kept under close monitoring throughout the operation.
Authorities said that no explosive material had been found so far, and further verification was underway. Meanwhile, officials also recalled a similar incident last Christmas, when a bomb threat email was received at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad related to a Flynas flight. That aircraft had also landed safely, and all security procedures were followed. Aviation and security agencies continue to remain on high alert to ensure passenger safety.
