Andhra Pradesh Highway Sets Guinness Record with 24-Hour Paving Marathon
Andhra Pradesh | January 11, 2026
In a remarkable engineering feat, a stretch of National Highway 544G in Andhra Pradesh has been certified by Guinness World Records for the longest continuous bituminous concrete paving completed within 24 hours. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the achievement on Sunday, marking a milestone in India’s infrastructure development.
The record-setting section, part of the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor, saw 28.95 lane-kilometres of bituminous concrete laid in a single day, with a total of 10,675 tonnes of material placed. Officials confirmed that all work complied with stringent quality standards and Guinness’ monitoring requirements.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), along with M/s Rajpath Infracon Private Limited, deployed state-of-the-art machinery, including 70 tippers, five hot mix plants, one paver, and 17 rollers. Top institutions like IIT Bombay oversaw quality control, ensuring every step met the highest safety and precision standards.
This record surpasses India’s previous milestone set in June 2022 on NH-53 in Maharashtra, where a single-lane stretch between Amravati and Akola laid 75 km of continuous bituminous concrete in over 105 hours. Andhra Pradesh’s achievement now sets a new benchmark in speed, scale, and efficiency of road construction.
