Republic Day Eve Address: President Murmu Hails Nation Builders, Democracy and India’s Rising Strength

On January 25, 2026, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of India’s 77th Republic Day, sharing a message of unity, gratitude and confidence. The address was broadcasted  on all Doordarshan channels and All India Radio (Akashwani), reflected on India’s democratic spirit, cultural pride and steady economic progress despite global uncertainties.


In her speech, the President saluted the people who keep India strong every day. She praised the brave soldiers of the Army, Navy and Air Force for constantly guarding the motherland, and acknowledged the dedication of police personnel and Central Armed Police Forces who protect internal security. She also paid tribute to farmers, calling them the nation’s “Annadata”, and thanked doctors, nurses and health workers for caring for the health of millions.


President Murmu highlighted the contributions of sanitation workers, teachers, scientists, engineers, labourers, artists, craftsmen, writers and entrepreneurs, saying their collective efforts drive the country forward. She especially mentioned the youth and children, noting that their talent and hard work strengthen faith in India’s golden future. She also appreciated selfless individuals and institutions who serve society quietly, bringing hope and positive change to countless lives.


Touching on national milestones, the President said that India continues to be the world’s fastest-growing major economy and is moving steadily towards becoming the third-largest economy. She described the Constitution as the guiding document of the world’s largest republic, based on justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. She also referred to the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, calling it a lasting source of patriotism, and praised initiatives like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” for empowering women who are creating new success stories across fields, from sports to the armed forces.
