The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the postponement of Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations scheduled for March 2, 2026, in several West Asian countries due to the escalating security situation in the region. The decision comes in view of the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has raised serious safety concerns.

In an official circular issued on Sunday, CBSE confirmed that the examinations for both Class 10 and Class 12 will not be held on March 2 as planned. The board stated that revised dates for the postponed exams will be announced later, after reviewing the situation. The communication has been sent to principals of more than 150 CBSE-affiliated schools across Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

CBSE further informed that it will reassess the regional conditions on March 3, 2026, and take a decision regarding examinations scheduled from March 5 onwards. Students have been advised to stay in regular contact with their respective schools and rely only on official CBSE announcements for accurate updates.

West Asia remains the largest overseas hub for CBSE schools, with cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Riyadh hosting a significant number of examination centres. The Class 10 and 12 board exams began on February 18, with over 4.37 million students appearing for the examinations in India and abroad. The board reiterated that student safety remains its top priority while ensuring minimal disruption to the academic calendar.
