Fatima Sana Shaikh Joins Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Police Company’
New Delhi, October 02, 2026
Fatima Sana Shaikh is set to make a special appearance in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming crime-action drama ‘Police Company’. The project, which also stars Harshvardhan Rane, is centred on the Mumbai Police’s Detection Unit and its confrontation with the underworld during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The casting adds another layer of intrigue to a film that is being developed around a turbulent period in Mumbai’s policing history.
The film went on floors in August, while Fatima reportedly shot her portions in September. Although her screen time is said to be limited, a source close to the production indicated that her role is closely connected to the film’s storyline. “Fatima's appearance in the film is brief, but crucial to the plot. It's not a token cameo. There were only a few people on set the days she shot, including her body double,” said the source.
Harshvardhan Rane is playing Mumbai encounter specialist Daya Nayak in the film, which is being presented as a gritty account of the police unit’s fight against organised crime. Varma is also understood to be planning ‘Police Company’ as a two-part project, with Fatima potentially taking on a more substantial role in the second instalment.
“Her track reveals an important aspect in the story. That's why her casting hasn't been announced.” The makers have therefore kept details about Fatima’s character under wraps, with her involvement yet to be formally announced. The secrecy surrounding her casting is reportedly linked to the significance of her character in the narrative.
Fatima’s appearance comes as the actor continues to expand her filmography with projects across different genres, following ‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’ and the upcoming ‘Teen Kauwe’. Meanwhile, Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Police Company’ is expected to explore the tense relationship between the Mumbai Police and the underworld during the era it portrays. Varma was contacted for a response on Fatima’s casting but had not replied until press time.
