The Kedarnath Dham pilgrimage faced a temporary disruption after heavy rainfall damaged a section of the trekking route near Chirbasa, bringing movement through the affected stretch to a complete halt. With debris and stones falling onto the pathway, authorities have begun restoration work before allowing pilgrims to proceed.

The damaged portion of the route is near Chirbasa, around 2.5 km above Gaurikund. Recent heavy rainfall brought debris and stones onto the trekking path, leaving the route damaged. Reinforcement and repair work has been underway since morning, while movement through the area remains completely closed.

After the route is cleared and secured, pilgrims returning from Kedarnath Dham will be safely escorted through the affected section first. Authorities will then take a decision on resuming the day's trekking pilgrimage towards Kedarnath Dham.

While movement on the trekking route remains suspended, helicopter services to Kedarnath Dham are operating smoothly. Pilgrims have been urged to remain patient and follow instructions issued by the administration and police until the route is cleared.

The focus remains on restoring the damaged stretch and ensuring that pilgrim movement resumes only after safe passage is established. Rudraprayag Police has reiterated its message: “Your safety is our responsibility.”
