Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the **Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport** in Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh, marking a major addition to the state’s aviation infrastructure. During his visit, he is also scheduled to dedicate development projects worth more than **₹17,900 crore** to the nation.

Developed under the **Public-Private Partnership (PPP)** model at a cost of over **₹5,640 crore**, the greenfield airport can handle **six million passengers annually**. Its modern terminal features technologies including **Artificial Intelligence, Building Information Modelling, Airside 4.0 systems, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre, biometric passenger processing and automated baggage handling**, aimed at improving efficiency, safety and passenger convenience.

Sustainability is central to the airport’s design, with a **5 MW solar power plant, rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient systems, smart building management, waste management measures, EV charging infrastructure and environmental monitoring**. The terminal follows Green Building Standards and draws architectural inspiration from Andhra Pradesh’s heritage, including Chuttilu cottages and the Araku Valley, with its flowing design symbolising a flying fish.

The airport is expected to strengthen regional air connectivity and support **tourism, trade, investment and employment** across Andhra Pradesh. Later, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to **Mysuru, Karnataka**, to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre – Viveka Smaraka at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama and address a public gathering.
