Building the Future of Defence Through Innovation and Self-Reliance

Strengthening national capability through innovation and sustainable development remains central to India’s evolving defence vision. Addressing Military Engineer Services (MES) officer trainees, President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the importance of combining technical excellence with long-term national priorities to build stronger and more resilient infrastructure.


She urged the trainees to become champions of self-reliance, innovation, and sustainability while carrying forward their responsibilities in defence engineering. Stressing the need to adapt to changing technologies and emerging demands, the President said that professional competence, integrity, and a commitment to excellence would define the future leadership of the sector.


President Murmu noted that the contribution of Military Engineer Services extends beyond construction and maintenance, playing an important role in strengthening national preparedness and supporting development goals. She encouraged young officers to use modern approaches and efficient practices to create lasting impact.


Concluding her address, the President underlined that engineering and infrastructure development are closely linked with nation-building. She expressed confidence that the new generation of officers would contribute meaningfully to India’s progress through innovation-driven and sustainable solutions.
