Smart Surveillance Boost Planned for Safer Amarnath Yatra

Srinagar, June 25, 2026

Ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, authorities have strengthened preparations by introducing Project Hawk Eye, a technology-linked security initiative aimed at improving surveillance, coordination, and overall pilgrim safety. The move reflects an increasing focus on combining traditional security deployment with advanced digital systems for managing large religious gatherings.

The project will support security agencies through real-time monitoring, improved situational awareness, and faster response capabilities across the pilgrimage routes. By integrating technology into on-ground operations, authorities aim to detect potential risks more efficiently and maintain better coordination among different security units during the yatra.

Project Hawk Eye forms part of a wider multi-layered security arrangement planned for the pilgrimage. The system is expected to assist in route monitoring, movement management, and emergency preparedness while helping ensure smoother operations throughout the event.

With lakhs of devotees expected to undertake the pilgrimage, the initiative underlines the growing use of technology in public safety management. Authorities expect the enhanced security framework to contribute to a safer, more organised, and better-coordinated Amarnath Yatra experience.
