On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, India’s top leadership reflected on the enduring relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings, emphasizing peace, compassion, and harmony as guiding principles for today’s world. The messages highlighted how these values continue to inspire humanity toward a more balanced and mindful way of life.
President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings, stating, “This sacred day marks the epoch-making events of Bhagwan Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana.” She underlined that his teachings offer a path of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, especially in challenging times, and encouraged people to build a more inclusive and harmonious society.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his wishes, saying, “Best wishes on Buddha Purnima. Our commitment to realising the ideals of Lord Buddha remains strong.” He noted that Buddha’s teachings strengthen unity, happiness, and deeper human connections while guiding society on the path of peace and compassion.
Buddha Purnima, one of the most sacred occasions in Buddhism, commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha. The day serves as a reminder to embrace his ideals in everyday life, encouraging a collective move toward peace, understanding, and the well-being of all.
