दोपहर 2:10 बजे होगा ब्लास्ट...’ Threat Email Triggers Panic at Lucknow Passport Office, Search Finds Nothing Suspicious

Lucknow | 18 March 2026

Panic gripped the local passport office in Lucknow on Wednesday morning after a threatening email warned of a possible cyanide cylinder blast. The email claimed that 19 cylinders filled with cyanide gas had been placed inside the office and would explode at “दोपहर 2:10 बजे होगा ब्लास्ट...”, creating fear among staff and officials.

The message was received around 7:41 AM on the official email ID of the passport officer from an account named “Saurav_Biswas21”. It also advised employees to leave the premises immediately and cover their nose and mouth. When the office opened later in the morning and staff noticed the email, authorities were informed without delay.

Following the alert, teams from Gomti Nagar police, along with the dog squad and bomb disposal unit, carried out an extensive search operation across the building. Areas including halls, rooms, washrooms, parking spaces, and waiting areas were thoroughly checked for nearly two hours. However, no suspicious object or material was found, and officials later declared the premises safe, allowing work to resume.

According to Inspector Brajesh Chandra Tiwari, efforts are underway to trace the sender using the IP address. Preliminary findings also suggest that the email contained remarks targeting certain government bodies and NGOs, though the exact motive remains unclear. Authorities continue their investigation, especially in light of similar hoax threats reported in recent months.
