UP Woman and Alleged Lover Arrested for Husband’s Murder After Dismembered Body Found in Sambhal

Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, December 23:

In a shocking crime that has stunned residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, a woman and her alleged lover have been arrested for the murder of her husband and for cutting his body into pieces before disposing of the remains at different locations, police said on Monday.

The accused woman, identified as Ruby, lived with her husband Rahul, aged 38, in Mohalla Chunni in the Chandousi area of Sambhal. According to police, Ruby had earlier approached authorities on November 18 to file a missing person complaint, claiming that Rahul had not returned home. The complaint initially triggered a routine search, but the case took a grim turn weeks later.

On December 15, nearly a month after Rahul was reported missing, police recovered a badly mutilated body from a drain near the Eidgah area of Sambhal. The body was missing the head, hands, and legs, raising serious suspicion of foul play and leading to a detailed investigation. The remains were sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic experts were called in to assist the probe.

Superintendent of Police K.K. Bishnoi said the forensic team conducted a thorough examination of the body and collected DNA samples. During the examination, investigators reportedly found the name “Rahul” written on the body, which became a crucial lead in identifying the victim.

Police then reviewed missing person complaints filed at nearby police stations and carried out technical analysis. It was found that Rahul’s mobile phone had been switched off since November 18, the same day Ruby had reported him missing. These findings deepened suspicion and led investigators to question Ruby in detail.

During interrogation, police said Ruby allegedly confessed to killing her husband with the help of her lover, identified as Gaurav. According to the police version, Rahul had discovered their illicit relationship, which led to frequent disputes. The accused reportedly decided to eliminate him to continue their relationship without interference.

The police said Ruby and Gaurav attacked Rahul using an iron rod and an iron pestle, killing him on the spot. After the murder, they allegedly brought a wood grinder and used it to cut the body into several parts to avoid identification. One part of the body was dumped in the drain near the Eidgah area, while the remaining parts were taken to Rajghat and thrown into the Ganga river.

Investigators have recovered the grinder allegedly used to dismember the body, along with an iron hammer and other tools believed to have been used in the assault. These items have been seized as evidence and will be examined further to strengthen the case.

Police have preserved the DNA samples of the deceased, which will be matched with those of Rahul’s children to confirm his identity beyond doubt. This step is expected to play a key role in the legal proceedings.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Both Ruby and Gaurav are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway to reconstruct the sequence of events and gather additional evidence.

The incident has caused widespread shock in the local community, with residents expressing disbelief over the brutal nature of the crime. Police officials said they are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation and a strong case so that justice is delivered.

As the probe continues, authorities are also searching for any remaining body parts and examining whether others were involved or had prior knowledge of the crime.
