Row Over Alleged Remarks on Gurus: Kapil Mishra Accuses Atishi of Silence, Misuse of Punjab Police
A political controversy has erupted in Delhi after BJP leader Kapil Mishra, during a press conference, alleged that Chief Minister Atishi Marlena allegedly used objectionable language against Gurus during the Delhi Assembly proceedings on the 6th of this month. Mishra said the remarks have deeply hurt religious sentiments and termed the issue “serious and unacceptable.”
Addressing the media, Kapil Mishra claimed that since the alleged incident, Atishi has remained absent from the Assembly, the media, and public interactions. He accused the Aam Aadmi Party leadership of deliberately avoiding accountability and claimed that the matter is being suppressed instead of addressed transparently.
Mishra further alleged that, on the instructions of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Punjab Police is allegedly being misused to silence voices raising the issue. According to him, false FIRs have been filed in Punjab to intimidate those demanding accountability, adding that such actions would not help bury the matter.
The BJP leader asserted that the controversy will not fade away, according to Mishra and that the party will continue both legal and political action. He said the opposition will raise the issue from the streets to the legislature, demanding an apology and accountability, while calling it a matter of respect for Gurus and religious sentiments. The issue has reportedly intensified political tensions in Delhi, with the BJP preparing to escalate its protest over what it describes as an insult to faith.
