Meerut Man Allegedly Auctions Obscene Videos of Minors on Telegram; Police Launch Multi-State Manhunt
Meerut | December 16, 2025
A multi-state police investigation has uncovered a disturbing online network allegedly operated by a Meerut resident, who is accused of auctioning obscene videos of minor girls through a Telegram channel called “Lucifer.” Authorities say the case highlights the growing threat of organized online child exploitation.
Amit Jain, a resident of Bagpat Gate in Meerut, is accused of running a sophisticated digital storefront where thumbnails of illegal videos were displayed like products in a catalogue. Buyers allegedly browsed the content, negotiated prices, and completed transactions, with some videos reportedly fetching amounts in the lakhs. Police say the operation was meticulously organized, making it difficult to trace until cyber teams from multiple states joined forces.
The investigation began in September 2025, when Dehradun Police discovered links to obscene content on a cyber portal. Their digital trail led to Jain in Meerut, prompting the Brahmpuri police station to register an FIR and launch a manhunt. Since then, Jain has reportedly gone underground, turning off his mobile phone to avoid capture.
Circle Officer (CO) Soumya Asthana of Brahmpuri said that recovered chat logs show detailed negotiations between Jain and buyers, indicating multiple completed transactions. Investigators found evidence suggesting the criminal network extended beyond Uttar Pradesh. Tamil Nadu Police traced a payment of approximately ₹20,000 deposited into Jain’s bank account about a month ago, related to videos sold in that state. The account has been frozen, and leads on possible accomplices are being pursued.
Preliminary findings suggest that Jain may not have operated alone. Investigators believe other individuals helped manage his social media accounts and facilitated the sale of illicit content. Police teams from Meerut, Dehradun, and Tamil Nadu are coordinating to identify and apprehend all members of the network.
Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Ayush Vikram Singh, confirmed that local cyber units have been ordered to conduct a thorough investigation. “We are monitoring social media accounts linked to Amit Jain and keeping a close watch on similar accounts to prevent such crimes,” he said.
Although the Telegram channel has been suspended, the investigation continues. Authorities are working to dismantle what appears to be an organized operation exploiting minors for profit. The case underscores the urgent need for vigilance, inter-state coordination, and cyber policing to tackle online sexual exploitation of children.
The police have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward to aid the investigation. This operation is ongoing, and the safety and protection of minors remain the top priority for law enforcement agencies across the states involved.
