Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted dialogue, goodwill and global welfare as India prepares to host the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13. With leaders from BRICS Member and Partner Countries and Outreach Invitees expected to attend, Modi expressed confidence that the summit would lead to constructive discussions on issues of global importance.

“Over the next few days, leaders from around the world will gather for the BRICS Summit. I am confident that the Summit will see positive and meaningful discussions on various issues with the welfare of the world in mind,” PM Modi said in a post on X in Hindi.

Modi also shared a Sanskrit shlok centred on the importance of staying connected with virtuous people and strengthening relationships through discussion and mutual goodwill. “A person should always live among the virtuous and cultivate their company. A person should engage in discussion and foster friendly relations with the virtuous, because mutual goodwill, dialogue and friendly relations strengthen peace and cooperation,”.

India is hosting the summit as BRICS Chair for 2026, with the two-day meeting expected to cover stronger cooperation among member countries and perspectives on global and regional matters. The Ministry of External Affairs said leaders will exchange views on common priorities and areas of mutual importance.

Meanwhile, preparations at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi are nearing completion ahead of the high-level gathering. The official 18th BRICS Summit X handle said, “This is Delhi. This is the moment. With its heritage glowing and Bharat Mandapam gearing up, the capital puts the finishing touches in place for the 18th BRICS Summit.” It also said, “Delhi is gearing up for the 18th BRICS Summit. Soon, the world will meet at one table.” Modi’s message has set the tone for a summit where dialogue and cooperation are expected to remain central to the discussions.
