Kashi Vishwanath Dham Shines in Sawan Festivities
Lucknow, August 17, 2026
The Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi has been transformed into a vibrant spectacle of devotion as the temple prepares for Nag Panchami and the third Monday of the holy month of Sawan. The elaborate decorations reflect the religious significance of the occasion, which brings together two important traditions associated with Lord Shiva and serpent worship.
The temple complex has been decorated with colourful floral arrangements and festive lights. Garlands of marigolds and roses have been placed across the ceilings, pillars and entrances, highlighting the architectural beauty of the shrine. The spires, domes and sacred symbols, including tridents, have also been illuminated for the celebrations.
The occasion coincides with Nag Panchami and the traditionally auspicious Monday observed during the Shravan month in honour of Lord Shiva. With a large number of devotees expected to visit the prominent Jyotirlinga to offer prayers, arrangements have been made across the temple complex to manage the increased pilgrim footfall.
Nighttime scenes showed the temple's golden spires and domes glowing against the dark sky, while light rain added to the monsoon setting. The festive illumination and floral decorations have further enhanced the spiritual atmosphere as devotees gather to pray to Lord Shiva and worship serpent deities in keeping with Nag Panchami traditions.
