TMC Faces Financial Setback as Three Party Bank Accounts Frozen

New Delhi, June 20, 2026

In a development that has intensified political attention in West Bengal, the freezing of three bank accounts linked to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has triggered fresh debate over party finances and internal disputes. The action has placed restrictions on withdrawals and financial operations, bringing the issue into the spotlight ahead of further legal and administrative scrutiny.

According to reports, debit operations in three TMC bank accounts have been suspended, preventing any withdrawal or outward transactions from those accounts. The accounts reportedly hold deposits worth nearly ₹440 crore. The move is said to have followed complaints and objections raised within the party structure regarding the handling and management of funds.

Reports further indicate that concerns over financial control and account operations led to formal communication with the bank, after which restrictions were imposed and an inquiry process was initiated. Authorities are now examining the matter based on the complaints received.

While the freezing of the accounts marks a significant development for the ruling party in West Bengal, it does not amount to proof of financial wrongdoing. The matter remains under examination, and further clarity is expected only after the completion of the investigation and official findings.
