UP Introduces Premium Electric Buses Starting at ₹10 Fare

Lucknow, June 12, 2026

As urban centres continue to expand, improving public transport has become a key part of building accessible and sustainable cities. In line with this goal, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a new premium electric bus service aimed at strengthening connectivity and offering commuters a cleaner and more comfortable travel experience.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the first fleet of premium electric buses for western Uttar Pradesh. The initial phase includes 110 fully air-conditioned buses, which are expected to begin operations within the next three days. The service is being introduced to improve movement across major areas including Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna region while supporting future transport demand.

A major highlight of the initiative is its affordable pricing model. Officials stated that ticket fares will begin at ₹10 and rise according to travel distance, making the service accessible to a wider section of passengers. The electric fleet is also expected to encourage environmentally friendly travel and reduce dependence on conventional transport systems.

With plans for future expansion, the project reflects a broader effort to strengthen public infrastructure and support long-term urban growth. By combining affordability, comfort and cleaner mobility, the new bus network is expected to improve everyday travel across the region
