Centre Tightens Preparations for NEET-UG Re-Exam

New Delhi, May 28, 2026

The central government has stepped up preparations for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan holding a detailed review meeting alongside former ISRO Chairman K. Radhakrishnan. The discussion focused on ensuring a smooth, transparent, and secure examination process ahead of the June 21 re-exam.

Officials reviewed multiple steps aimed at preventing irregularities and strengthening monitoring systems at examination centres. Special attention was given to surveillance mechanisms, coordination with authorities, and maintaining strict security protocols to ensure fairness during the nationwide medical entrance examination.

The meeting also emphasized creating a stress-free and student-friendly environment for candidates appearing in the re-exam. Authorities discussed improving facilities at centres and ensuring proper arrangements considering the large number of students expected to participate across the country. Senior officials from the Education Ministry and the National Testing Agency briefed the minister on ongoing preparations.

The NEET-UG re-exam continues to remain under public scrutiny following concerns related to examination integrity earlier this year. With preparations now being monitored closely at the highest level, the government aims to restore confidence by conducting the examination in a fair, transparent, and well-managed manner.
