Uttar Pradesh is steadily transforming into a growing startup hub, moving beyond its traditional industrial base. Under the government’s initiative called “Start in UP”, more than 3,000 startups have already received official recognition. The programme aims to encourage innovation, support young entrepreneurs, and create a strong ecosystem for new businesses across the state.

The initiative has provided a fresh push to entrepreneurship among the youth. Through supportive policies and guidance systems, the government is not only offering financial help but also providing mentorship and resources needed to convert innovative ideas into successful ventures. At present, more than 20 startups from the state have received recognition under the national startup framework, showing that the region’s innovation ecosystem is gradually aligning with global standards.

To strengthen the startup environment further, a wide incubation network has been developed across universities and technical institutions. Around 76 recognised incubators are currently active in the state, helping startups during their early stages by providing mentorship and technical support. In addition, seven Centres of Excellence have been approved to promote advanced research in modern sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Agricultural Technology and Data Analytics.

Financial incentives have also played a major role in encouraging new entrepreneurs. The state government has approved incentives worth ₹146 crore so far, out of which ₹58 crore has already been distributed to startups. This financial support is helping young innovators expand their products, improve technology, and enter wider markets. Experts believe that with the combination of policy support, funding and institutional guidance, the startup culture in Uttar Pradesh is growing rapidly and has the potential to create millions of employment opportunities in the  ‘Start in UP’ Initiative Boosts Innovation as Over 3,000 Startups Gain Recognition
