Uttar Pradesh Emerging as India’s New Tech Hub, ‘AI Pragya Program’ to Train 1 Million Youth in Future Skills
Lucknow | 6 March 2026
Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly transforming into a centre for artificial intelligence and technological innovation. Through initiatives like the "AI Pragya Program" and the state’s Startup Policy, the government aims to equip around one million young people with advanced digital and technology skills. Cities such as Noida, Lucknow, and Varanasi are increasingly becoming attractive destinations for startups, investors, and technology companies, strengthening the state’s role in India’s digital growth.
To support innovation, the state has developed a strong ecosystem for startups and incubation. More than 400 units of Software Technology Parks of India are currently operating across the state, helping technology-based businesses grow. The government is also working on building over 100 startup incubators that will provide young entrepreneurs with mentorship, infrastructure, and financial guidance. In addition, partnerships with global technology companies like Microsoft and Google are helping train youth in modern digital and AI-based skills.
Uttar Pradesh has also achieved a strong position in electronics manufacturing. The state now contributes nearly 65 percent of India’s total mobile manufacturing output, making it a major production hub. Along with this, the state’s IT and IT-enabled services exports have crossed ₹44,000 crore, reflecting the growing demand for its skilled workforce and improving technology infrastructure.
The government is also integrating advanced technology into the education system. Around 49 Industrial Training Institutes across the state are being equipped with modern AI laboratories to train students in data analytics and advanced digital technologies. These initiatives aim to prepare students for global opportunities while also strengthening local industries, including MSMEs, by connecting them with digital supply chains and new technology-driven markets.
