Over 16 Lakh Apply - Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) Sets Exam Dates for SI Posts

Lucknow, December 04, 2025

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has announced the official schedule for the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam, attracting an overwhelming response of over 16.5 lakh applicants. This recruitment drive aims to fill 4,543 vacancies across various units including civil police, PAC platoons, special security units, and newly formed women battalions in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Badaun.

The application window for the recruitment closed on September 11, 2025. The board implemented a One-Time Registration (OTR) system, which allowed candidates to upload their basic information and receive a unique OTR number before completing their full application. This system helped streamline the process and manage the massive number of applicants efficiently.

According to the notification, the written examination for the SI posts is scheduled to be held on 14 and 15 March 2026, giving candidates ample time to prepare. The board has advised applicants to regularly check official notifications for details on admit cards, exam centres, and other important instructions to ensure a smooth examination process.

This recruitment comes on the heels of the recent Constable recruitment exam, which filled 60,244 posts across the state. The ongoing recruitment efforts reflect the government’s focus on strengthening law enforcement capacity and improving policing infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.

With more than 16 lakh candidates competing for just over 4,500 positions, the SI exam is expected to be highly competitive. Candidates will first appear for the written test, followed by physical eligibility tests and other stages of the selection process. Aspirants are preparing rigorously, aware that only a fraction of applicants will successfully clear all stages to secure a position in the state police.

The release of the exam schedule marks a significant step in the recruitment timeline. Candidates who successfully completed their OTR registration must now stay alert for updates regarding admit cards and final instructions for exam day. This large-scale recruitment drive highlights the growing interest among youth to join law enforcement and contribute to public safety in Uttar Pradesh, while also setting the stage for one of the most competitive police recruitment exams in recent years.
