Indian-Origin Couple Alleges Racial Assault by Chinese Hotel Manager in Switzerland

New Delhi, Sept 9, 2025

A Canadian-based Indian couple has alleged that they were violently attacked by a Chinese-origin hotel manager during their holiday in Switzerland, in what they described as a racially motivated assault. The victims, Nikita and Karan, shared their ordeal on Instagram, with their posts later amplified by content creator Ashish Rajput, drawing widespread attention online.

Stay Turns Into Nightmare

On June 24, the couple checked into Seehotel Schwert, a lakeside property in Gersau, which is run by a family of Chinese descent. According to their account, what began as a seemingly minor issue quickly escalated into a frightening confrontation.

The dispute started when hotel staff allegedly removed a fan from their room without informing them. When Nikita and Karan politely questioned the move, they claimed the manager responded with arrogance, threats, and verbal abuse. The situation worsened when he refused to converse in English, forcing them to translate their request into German.

For Nikita, the episode felt deeply personal. “There was already a deep-seated hatred – for our skin, for who we are,” she later told Rajput.

Confrontation Turns Violent

The couple said the situation spiraled further the following morning, when they attempted to recount the incident to another staff member during checkout. At that point, the same manager allegedly intervened once again, this time resorting to physical violence.

According to their claims, the manager repeatedly punched and kicked them before hurling a heavy metal object directly at Nikita’s face. The attack left her with multiple severe injuries.

She reportedly lost one tooth, fractured 12 others, and is undergoing a series of dental surgeries. “I don’t feel like myself anymore,” she said, highlighting not only the physical trauma but also the psychological toll of the assault.

Manager Files Counter-Complaint

In a shocking twist, the couple revealed that the manager later filed a counter-complaint against Karan. Rajput, who has been publicizing their story, suggested that the move may have been intended to delay or derail justice.

Adding to their distress, Nikita and Karan said they have yet to receive any clear response from local authorities. They remain unsure whether the manager has even been questioned, let alone penalized.

Growing Concerns Over Racial Hostility

The incident has triggered discussions on racial discrimination faced by travelers, particularly people of color, in Europe. For Nikita, the experience felt like more than just poor hospitality. It was, in her words, “hatred for our skin.”

The couple’s story has resonated with many online, sparking outrage and calls for accountability. However, as of now, Swiss authorities have not issued any official statement on the matter.

Lingering Trauma

Beyond the physical injuries, the couple emphasized the emotional scars they are left with. Nikita continues to undergo extensive medical treatment and said the attack has permanently altered her sense of identity and security.

For now, the couple awaits legal clarity while using social media to highlight their case, hoping public pressure will ensure
