India’s leading low-cost airline IndiGo has announced the appointment of veteran aviation leader Willie Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer. The decision comes weeks after the abrupt resignation of former CEO Pieter Elbers, who stepped down ahead of completing his term. The airline said Walsh brings extensive global experience, having previously led British Airways and the International Airlines Group (IAG).

According to the official statement, Walsh is currently serving as the Director General of International Air Transport Association (IATA). His leadership experience across major international airlines is expected to strengthen IndiGo’s position in an increasingly competitive aviation market.
