The song “Sarke Chunar” from the upcoming film KD The Devil has sparked debate over its lyrics, drawing criticism from sections of the public. The controversy intensified after reports of objections being raised against the track featuring actor-dancer Nora Fatehi. Amid speculation that the issue may have been created for publicity, director Prem has firmly denied such claims.

Responding to the criticism, Prem stated that there was no intention to generate controversy. He explained that the film is primarily emotional in nature, and the song was designed as a lively number for entertainment purposes. According to him, the track has been positively received in regions like Karnataka and Kerala, and the backlash over the Hindi version came as an unexpected development.

The director further clarified that while he had written the original Kannada lyrics, the Hindi adaptation was handled by lyricist Raqueeb Alam. He admitted that he was not fully aware of the exact wording in the translated version due to language limitations. Prem added that certain phrases considered normal in regional folk expression may have been interpreted differently in another linguistic context.

Acknowledging the concerns raised, the filmmaker said that the contentious lines have now been revised and an updated version will be submitted for certification. He also expressed regret if the song caused any offence, emphasising that the issue has been addressed.
