President Murmu Calls for United Efforts to Eliminate Tuberculosis Ahead of World TB Day

Droupadi Murmu on Monday called for renewed collective efforts to eliminate tuberculosis (TB), ahead of World TB Day observed on March 24. In her message, the President highlighted that TB continues to be a major public health concern, affecting millions of people worldwide.


She acknowledged that India has made notable progress in addressing the disease through sustained initiatives such as the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. According to her, efforts under the programme have significantly improved early detection, ensured free treatment for patients, and strengthened nutritional and healthcare support systems.


President Murmu said these advancements reflect the country’s strong commitment under the National TB Elimination Programme. She emphasised that consistent policy implementation and coordinated healthcare delivery have played a crucial role in improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden of the disease.


Expressing optimism about the future, the President urged all stakeholders including healthcare workers, policymakers, and citizens to work together with greater determination. She stressed that a united and sustained approach is essential to completely eradicate tuberculosis and build a healthier society.
