Lucknow | March 22, 2026
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday distributed appointment letters to 1,228 newly selected nursing officers, marking a significant step toward strengthening the state’s healthcare system. The initiative also reflects the government’s focus on expanding employment opportunities and supporting the aspirations of medical professionals.
A notable highlight of the recruitment drive is the strong representation of women, with 1,097 out of 1,228 selected candidates being female. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the development as a symbol of women’s empowerment, especially during the ongoing Chaitra Navratri. He stated that the newly appointed officers would not only build their own careers but also contribute to improving trust and care in healthcare services.
“It is a matter of immense pride for us that out of a total of 1,228 candidates, 1,097 are women. In the developmental journey of the past nine years, the double-engine government’s efforts to enhance the respect, security, and dignity of women are reflected in this number,” he said. The Chief Minister also interacted with some of the selected candidates, who expressed enthusiasm as they begin their professional journey.
Highlighting broader reforms, he said the government has revived 35 ANM training centres and is currently building 35 new nursing colleges across the state. He added that efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure have contributed to a decline in maternal and infant mortality rates, bringing Uttar Pradesh closer to the national average. The Chief Minister also reiterated the government’s push towards initiatives like establishing medical and nursing colleges in every district to further strengthen healthcare delivery.
